My Australia report by Kent Shikama
My First Australia:
I went to Australia for the first time. I was very tired from the long airplane ride.
On arrival, We went to the zoo and managed to see the Koalas.
We ate fried potatoes with no salt on it.
The home stay was not so bad. Masayoshi and I played with two kids every single day.
The worst part of it was the food. Because we had to eat sandwiches with lettuce and cheese every day.
My Tennis:
The first match I played was on a grass court.
The ball went fast and always stopped on a grass court.
I lost the game, but it was a good match with a score of 2-8.
The consolation match was against a big, tall guy.
His serve was hard to get and his stroke was very powerful.
Most Australian juniors put a lot of top spins
and I had difficulties in hitting back properly.
Kooyone Classics and Australia Open:
I saw many good matches like Agassi against Henman and Rodick against Federer.
I was amazed with Aggassi's forehand aces down the line and Henmans's angle volley with control.
I also liked Suzuki's volley because his volley had good control.
I liked Gaudios vs. Hibarty match best because Hibarty had a good attacking pattern.
Lastly, thank you for supporting me to go to Australia.
If I had more power, I would like to go back there to play again.
